Free CNA Practice Questions — Test Your Knowledge

Not sure if you’re ready for the CNA exam? The best way to find out is to take a practice test. We offer a free 20-question practice test that covers all five CNA domains.

Why Practice Tests Work

Research consistently shows that practice testing (also called retrieval practice) is one of the most effective study methods. It’s more effective than re-reading notes, highlighting, or watching videos.

When you answer a question — even incorrectly — your brain forms stronger memory connections around that topic. That’s why reviewing the explanation after every question is so important.

What Our Free Test Covers

Our free practice test includes questions from each CNA exam domain:

  • Patient Rights & Safety — informed consent, abuse recognition, restraint use
  • Basic Nursing Skills — vital sign measurement, positioning, range of motion
  • Infection Control — standard precautions, PPE selection, hand hygiene
  • Communication & Documentation — medical terminology, charting, privacy
  • Mental Health & Social Needs — reality orientation, cultural care, grief stages

Sample Question

A CNA notices a patient’s blood pressure reading is 180/110 mmHg. What should the CNA do first?

A) Document the reading and continue with care B) Report the reading to the charge nurse immediately C) Retake the blood pressure in 15 minutes D) Administer the patient’s blood pressure medication

Answer: B — A blood pressure of 180/110 is critically high (hypertensive crisis). The CNA must report abnormal vital signs to the nurse immediately. CNAs do not administer medications.
